VELVET is going all out for The House of Rebirth and hosting an opportunity for creatives and community to come together for a cause! All proceeds benefit The House of Rebirth! You may also bring a house warming gift as entry. ( Registry will be posted soon.)

** The House of Rebirth is a community safe space and oasis for a transformative housing initiative led by Black trans people to assist Black trans women and non-binary femmes who are adversely affected by intersecting oppression. **

VELVET is a summer series and an afro-futuristic experience of the New Harlem Renaissance right here in Dallas.

VELVET is exactly how it sounds, decadent and luxurious.. the room smells of incense and cologne.. artists👩🏾‍🎨, poets 🧞‍♂️and creatives 👨🏾‍🎤mingle.. a fly cutie orders a drink🥃 at the open bar as you are served tantalizing tapas🍢.. a saxophonist🎷 emits a melody🎼 that takes you far back and a poet begins her set. That's VELVET...

This isn't your typical showcase this is a finely curated exhibition of poets, visual artists, jazz musicians, comedians, dancers, live painting and more! We encourage artists to mix mediums, embrace spontaneity and CREATE live for your viewing pleasures. •
